(Duties may include but are not limited to the following activities. Some duties may be optional on an individual basis. If there is a question about responsibilities or authorities, resolve the issue with the Maintenance / Facilities Manager. The Industrial electrician will be expected to perform his/her job with minimal supervision.) This position pays $32 an hour.
- The Industrial electrician will report to the maintenance / facilities manager for project assignments and to report on daily activity progress and responsibilities.
- Conduct the electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic design, peripheral device programming, machine PLC programming, coordinate the machine debug, power-up, and machine validation with the appropriate build and electrical teams.
- The Industrial Electrician will ensure that equipment is designed and programmed to International Paper build specifications using standard techniques and approach.
- The Industrial electrician is responsible for producing his/her own drawings utilizing AutoCAD 2008, and/or AutoCAD LT2008. The controls technician is expected to utilize International Paper drawing standards and symbol libraries unless otherwise specified.
- Review electrical, hydraulic and controls drawings submitted to International Paper by OEM’s for compliance to equipment standards.
- Communicate with the project “team” to ensure a constant level of project awareness.
- Integrate, develop, and trouble-shoot programs for a number of different machine controllers, servo systems, motion controllers, robotics, HMI’s and related components in a timely and efficient manner, using International Paper standard techniques and approach.
- Develop a machine “bill of materials” and coordinate the procurement of these materials with the purchasing department and/or the MPS Coordinator, using International Paper standard procedure and process.
- Coordinate with maintenance technicians and electricians on a timely basis to ensure that all drawings, manuals, sequence of operation, PLC and HMI programs, etc., are kept current and correct. The controls engineer will be responsible for the maintenance / upkeep of the “back up program files” based in the Maintenance CAD file on the intranet.
- Attend certain technical training classes, as deemed necessary by the maintenance / facilities manager, and pass this knowledge along to electricians, maintenance technicians, interns, and/or electrical apprentices.
The Skills You Will Bring:
- 2 years of related mechanical experience working in an industrial manufacturing production environment
- Mechanical Journeyman or Technical/Vocation Certificate preferred
- Experience/knowledge in the following areas: Electrical circuit troubleshooting, plumbing, pneumatics, mobile equipment, Mig welding
- Ability to adapt to change, problem solve and prioritize work
- Ability to bend, squat and kneel, and climb frequently
- Ability to stand for periods of a minimum of 3 hours
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to work varied hours/days
- Ability to lift average weighted materials, 50 lbs. up to 70 lbs. occasionally
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints mechanical and electrical schematics, piping diagrams, in orthographic, isometric, and sketch-views
