PURPOSE:

We currently have an opening for a Maintenance Supervisor that will support our Tucker, GA Preprint facility. The Tucker facility supplies flexographic preprint products for local and national customers.  The Tucker facility is a temperature-controlled environment which features two (2) state of the art German PLC-controlled printing presses and technology along with various support equipment machinery.  This unique opportunity will allow someone to grow within a state of the art/high end printing facility.  This position reports to the Continuous Improvement Manager.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Help drive plant safety improvement efforts
  • Successfully establish an operating environment that embraces continuous improvement processes achieved through team-based initiatives with particular focus applied to plant goals and scorecard measures.
  • Champion preventive maintenance processes.
  • Maintain environmental compliance standards/permits for facility and International Paper through compliance to local ordinances on operation of equipment and grounds to reduce likelihood of violation
  • Purchase materials, parts, and supplies as required.
  • Provide technical expertise regarding plant equipment and facilities.
  • Prioritize maintenance activities.
  • Accurately and completely prepare and maintain maintenance records and other paperwork.
  • Responsible for continued emphasis on work systems – solidify basic tools and lead the further development of high performance work teams. 
  • Maintain a positive relationship with customers, manufacturing, customer support and sales group. 
  • Support and contribute to the professional development of facility employees for succession planning and cross-functional needs.
  • Manage the maintenance budget and steer investigations of downtime and equipment nonconformances that result in jobs with excessive costs.
  • Effectively communicate with facility lead team through active participation in daily production meetings, weekly lead team meetings, maintenance priority meetings and one-on-one sessions. 
  • Assist department leaders in monitoring work in progress and schedule conformance.
  • Participate in capital planning process for the facility and give input on new equipment purchases and major modifications of existing equipment.
  • Champion waste and other process improvement initiatives utilizing structured problem solving and employee engagement to yield positive results.
  • Directly lead/manage the Maintenance Department, as well as other assigned departments. 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical/vocational degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years experience managing a maintenance team within a manufacturing environment; preferably in a corrugated, converting, printing and/or preprint environment.
  • Experience leading Lean manufacturing efforts is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of heavy manufacturing machinery and both of its electrical and mechanical components
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in developing, implementing and managing high performance work systems and teams
  • Knowledge of Siemens PLCs and programming is highly preferred
  • Knowledge and working understanding of robotics in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of and compliance with local and corporate policies
  • Strong computer skills (which includes SAP, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access) required
