Multiple factors, including individual experience, skills, and abilities will determine where an employee is placed in the pay range.
Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s short –term incentive plan.

The Job You Will Perform:
Description:
The Fiber Specialist position is a key leadership role on the Valliant Fiber Supply Team. Responsibilities include the management and coordination of wood fiber deliveries into Valliant Mill, Valliant Storage Facilities, and remote woodyard(s). Duties will include team leadership, supply planning, sourcing / procurement & cost management, cost forecasting, logistics, operations and inventory management. The Fiber Specialist and his/her team are responsible for coordinating all fiber purchases into the Valliant Mill, associated storage facilities and woodyards; as well as purchasing chips and fiber fuel for the Mill. The position is also responsible for maintaining good working relationships with the mill’s supplier base. Additional responsibilities include shared responsibility with the Facility Specialist for oversight of the Valliant Storage Locations. The Fiber Specialist will coordinate with peers at other locations to optimize deliveries and achieve maximum enterprise value.
Job Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
- Logistical responsibility for managing ~500 loads/day of fiber.
- Provide support to maintain a balanced portfolio of sourcing and inventory to achieve the optimum balance between stability and cost.
- Assist with wood sourcing planning, budgeting and reporting.
- Coordinate operations and inventory management with Mill woodyard and support the Fiber Supply Manager in providing leadership to the Valliant Mill Joint Team.
- Lead efforts to achieve deliberate and continuous improvement and innovation.
- Develop and maintain intimate knowledge of the current state of fiber procurement activities in the operating area.
- Create and sustain a high level of engagement for all team members.
- Ensure compliance with all corporate and governmental environmental requirements within the Valliant basin.
Scope:
- Responsibility for coordinating and supporting the teams combined fiber purchases greater than 3.5 million tons and 0.2 million tons of fiber fuel per year.
- Provide support to other mills in IP’s West Region as needed.
- Supervision of salaried employees.
The Skills You Will Bring:
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Forest Management or related field; at least 5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management or related fields; well-grounded in business management with a working knowledge of supply chain management. Candidates should have a working knowledge of the use and application of forecasting & optimization models.
