Finished Products Assistant Area Maintenance Manager

Salary Range ($100,700-$134,300) - Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills, and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range. Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s short–term incentive plan.

 

The Job You Will Perform:

The International Paper Valliant Mill is currently seeking a Finished Products Assistant Area Maintenance Manager.  This position reports directly to the Finished Products Area Maintenance Manager. The Valliant mill is a 5,000+ ton per day fully integrated containerboard mill with 3 paper machines, complete with fiber and utility systems that support this production.  In addition to the modern, high speed paper machines, the Finished Products area includes pulp high density storage chests, stock preparation and machine approach systems, white water and broke handling systems, winders, roll sorting deck and shipping area.  The mill currently operates with over 350 mill employees, 150 contract maintenance employees, and 150 other contractors in a results oriented environment.

 

This position is to provide leadership in the identification, prioritization, planning, scheduling and execution of both mechanical and E&I maintenance work in the #3 Paper Machine and Shipping areas of the mill.  This position also includes leadership for the Overhead Crane Maintenance in the Finished Products area.  The Finished Products Assistance Area Maintenance Manager sets the expectations for the contract maintenance workforce in these areas. 

 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

  • Provide leadership that ensures a safe, productive, engaged maintenance group for Area
  • Provide leadership that produces world-class reliability and preserves the value of the assets
  • Directs activities associated with the Planning and Execution of all Area Maintenance
  • Shares responsibility with the Area Production Managers for the development and management of Area maintenance budget
  • Responsible to Improve Equipment Unscheduled Downtime and Maintenance Efficiency
  • Responsible for Successful Implementation of Maintenance and Capital Projects in Area
  • Implements precision maintenance practices
  • Ensure all maintenance work is performed in a quality manner using Best Practices
  • Implements Manufacturing Work System to improve maintenance planning, scheduling and work efficiencies
  • Ensure quality Preventive and Predictive Maintenance routes are being performed
  • Implement training to insure technician and leadership skills are adequately developed in the contract maintenance workforce
  • Acts as an interface between production and the maintenance organization to insure production needs are met and reliability is improved
  • Implement other mill and company reliability initiatives in the Area
  • Measures and reports maintenance performance in the managed Area

 

The Skills You Will Bring:

  • 10+ years’ experience in a heavy industrial maintenance environment, preferred
  • Paper Mill Experience, preferred
  • Experience working with contract maintenance organization a plus
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills a must
  • Proven track record in a plant maintenance organization
  • Effective communication skills to serve as the primary company representative to the contract maintenance workforce in the area and provide a key interface with the reliability improvement and production organizations is a must
  • Excellent computer skills required
