Electrical/Instrument Mechanic

Specific responsibilities include maintaining equipment to optimize reliability through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.  Candidates for consideration should have troubleshooting skills, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical aptitudes.  Accurately completing administrative documents and following directions are required.  Candidates must demonstrate technical experience, dependability and the ability to work independently. 

Candidates must be willing to work overtime, weekends and alternative shifts as required.

 

 Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Following all safety rules and practices
  • Performing emergency/breakdown maintenance as necessary to support plant operations
  • Performing preventive maintenance activities such as lubricating, measuring wear, alignment, measuring positions, repositioning components; and observing operations, vibrations and noise levels
  • Maintaining clean and organized work areas, and cleaning up work areas as part of completing assigned tasks.
  • Troubleshooting and solving problems
  • Self-motivated and able to follow through to completion with assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintaining teamwork and communication with co-workers.

Electrical/Instrumentation assignments may include:

  • Safely and accurately using electrical measurement and test equipment.
  • Performing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and other troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Replacing wire and conduit for existing equipment such as instrumentation, lighting and motors.
  • Replacing faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, circuit boards, switches, motors and position sensing devices such as proximity switches, timers, scanners, and photo electric devices
  • Troubleshooting and repair of motor starters, variable speed drives and control systems.
  • Troubleshooting through reading electrical block diagrams, schematics and PLC ladder logic.
  • Calibration of instrumentation, valves and controls.

Mechanical assignments may include work on the following:

  • Repair and replacement of rotating equipment such as pumps, turbines, agitators and compressors
  • Removal and precision installation of bearings and oil seals.
  • Precision alignment of equipment
  • Maintain product moving systems and conveyors
  • Repair and replacement of power transmissions components such as gearboxes and drive belts.
  • Trouble shooting and repair of mobile equipment and forklifts
  • Weld repairs of equipment, structures and piping.
  • Lubrication of equipment.

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Certification or completion of an apprenticeship in Electrical, Instrumentation, Welding or Millwright preferred.
  • Highly qualified candidates would possess a technical degree and maintenance experience in an industrial facility.

 

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment.
