The Job You Will Perform:
- Responsible for environmental compliance for air, effluent, solid waste, and hazardous waste streams and systems of the New Bern Mill
- Manages the lab which includes quality testing for the pulp dryer
- Implement projects and best management practices that will help the mill achieve compliance with all applicable environmental laws, regulations, and corporate policies
- Demonstrate due diligence and environmental stewardship
- Oversee compliance activities to assure timely and effective completion of mill environmental, including company policy, state, and federal regulations
- Strategically plan for compliance on any capital or process involvement projects
- Serve as a leader for workforce engagement, diversity, employee and staff development and employee relations
- Responsible for financial management including establishing and managing budgets and compliance with financial controls
- Oversee timely completion of all monthly, quarterly, annual state and federal environmental reports
- Respond to all concerns, complaints, and queries from regulators, the community, and audit findings
The Skills You Will Bring:
- At least 5-10 years Pulp & Paper Mill environmental management experience
- Minimum of a B.S. in a science or engineering discipline (advanced degree in science, engineering or MBA is a plus)
- Strong written and oral communication skills

About Global Cellulose Fibers (GCF):
Our GCF business helps customers transform renewable cellulose fibers into essential everyday products. Our high-quality, superior grade pulps form the basis for diverse applications, ranging from personal care items to specialty materials. We create components for diapers, tissues and feminine care products, as well as sustainable materials for the textile and construction industry. In 2024, IP announced a strategic review of options for the GCF business in keeping with its strategy of focusing on sustainable packaging solutions, which will allow GCF to fully unlock its capabilities to deliver enhanced service and product performance to its customers.
