Pay Rate:

$81,700 - $108,900 

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

The Job You Will Perform:

The Front Line Leader (FLL) is responsible for leading shift team operations in the paper or pulp machine area. The Finished Products FLL will report to the Finished Products Superintendent.  Experience as a Front Line Leader/Supervisor is a plus. The FLL supervises a crew of team members to operate all area process systems and other related equipment in a safe and productive manner. This leadership position is accountable for the safety of their crew, continued environmental compliance, productivity, troubleshooting, as well as member training and development. The person in this role must be able to effectively communicate and manage expectations to achieve department objectives.

 

  • Support and lead efforts at the New Bern Mill that include an injury-free environment through role modeling safe behavior, active involvement in safety activities and maintaining a clean and orderly work environment
  • Complete the First Line Leader (FLL) Onboarding/Proficiency Curriculum and Safety Leadership Certification
  • Manage a shift of hourly operators in the Finished Products department
  • Lead the resolution of mechanical and operating malfunctions throughout the mill process
  • Read and interpret the results of all required tests and take the necessary corrective action
  • Coordinate and leads efforts to support high performance work teams
  • Leadership role in ensuring team member relations, efforts, and processes are in place to maximize team member engagement and results
  • Manage with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Provide feedback, coaching, support and, when necessary, take corrective measures, to ensure all team members have a positive, productive, and safe work environment
  • Communicate as needed with team members and mill leadership for resolution of safety, quality, reliability, cost, production, and personnel issues
  • Communicate and lead the application of facility policies and standards
  • Hold meaningful one-to-one discussions with members of the crew
  • Provide leadership to troubleshoot operation issues
  • Understand and be able to teach basic ideas and requirements of the Manufacturing Work System, including notification entry & delivery ticket creation in SAP and outage planning

 

The Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge You Will Bring:

 

Minimum

  • Demonstrated and successful leadership ability in a manufacturing environment, including knowledge of and leadership in manufacturing safety practices
  • Safety champion and strong understanding of environmental implications, costs, quality, and customers.
  • Must have a high level of integrity, energy, and leadership ability to develop and lead others
  • Effective oral and written communications skills with proven ability to provide positive and improvement feedback, coaching opportunities, and take corrective measures as appropriate
  • Strong computer skills required

Preferred

  • Working knowledge and experience in pulp and paper industry processes
  • College Degree Preferred
  • Excellent skills in organizing, planning, priority setting, and time management, with proven ability to adapt to sudden changes in the work environment
  • Ability to effectively facilitate problem solving or conflict resolution processes.
