Title:             IE Front Line Leader

 

  Location:    Newport Mill, Cayuga, Indiana

 

  Reports to: Area Maintenance Manager

 

PL 11   $82,500 – $110,000

 

PURPOSE

 

The Instrument/Electrical (IE) Front Line Leader is responsible for

leading and planning electrical team members, including J3 Instrument

Electricians, J1 Electricians and/or Instrumentation Technicians. This

position is responsible for scheduling the team member’s work

assignments on a daily basis, taking into account job priorities and

timeline and each team member’s skill level and areas of development.

The IE Manager is also responsible for the training and development of

each member of his/her team, supporting the advancement of the team

member’s through the appropriate curriculum and corresponding

certification process. The IE FLL is responsible for supervising the

work necessary to maintain a variety of control systems and electrical

equipment, including AC, DC and synchronous motors, Distributed Controls

Systems, control valves, and process measurement. The individual will

supervise the crew that sets the standard for precision work (EPD, IEPM,

etc) and retain the knowledge of these repair procedures for Newport

equipment. They interact with mill operations, maintenance, and

management personnel on a day-to-day basis while performing their

duties.  This position works within the Maintenance department and

reports to the Area Maintenance Manager.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

The Electrical Maintenance Area Manager will work closely with a variety

of different areas throughout the mill including operations,

maintenance, technical, and management. The individual will:

 

  • Ensure their team works safely in an industrial environment, and

consistently demonstrate model safety behavior

  • Instill safety as a core value within the team and effectively

communicate a shared vision for safety including the Newport Safety

contact program, 5S and Top 5 programs

  • Be Responsible for the execution of daily, weekly and annual outage work.
  • Supervise the inspection, testing, adjustments, calibrations, and

servicing activities/repair necessary to assure the proper operation of

process instrumentation and electrical control systems.

  • Maximize team impact by focusing on precision work and avoid

           rework

  • Coach and manage employees to be in complete support/compliance

with Reliability efforts, through adherence to Management Work Systems,

Precision Maintenance practices & standards, Root Cause Analysis &

Equipment Condition & Monitoring practices.

  • Communicate and implement fundamental maintenance standards and

expectations, audit frequently for sustainability and consistency, and

give constructive feedback and correct behaviors when needed

    • Establish efficiency benchmarks for repair downtime
    • Actively participate in the MWS process, Graphical Work Order

(GWO) scheduling, and interface with Production Management

  • Manage electrical planner as a direct report
  • Hold meaningful one-to-one discussions with members of the

electrical crew; set clear expectations for both team and individuals

and motivate team members to strive for success

 

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Individual must be able to wear all required safety equipment.
  • Physically challenging mill environment; ability to move, ascend/descend stairs minimum 50% of the time
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Noise level in excess of 90 dB
  • Heat in excess of 100ºF,occasionally
  • Working environment is 24/7 – ability to be on-call as needed and/or required.

 

 

 

 

 

 

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum

 

 

  • H.S. Diploma or GED along with 5-10 years of electrical and

           instrumentation experience or an associate’s degree/bachelors in a

           related discipline is required.  

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills; problem solving, negotiation, presentation and training delivery skills.
  • Microsoft Office Profiency
  • Demonstrated leadership skills abilities
